About Details 1
Born and raised in Oakland, California, Chef Ronny Miranda is a third-generation Azorean-American whose culinary foundation was forged within the rich, diverse food culture of the Bay Area. His deep connection to cooking stems from a multigenerational family legacy; his forebears, skilled cooks who immigrated from Portugal to the US in the 1930s, established a tradition that remains integral to his identity. "Cooking is simply a part of my family’s history and continues to be," Miranda states. This heritage profoundly shapes his cuisine, drawing heavily from the cherished Azorean family recipes he learned in his mother's and grandmother's kitchens – a testament to the culinary talent and creativity ingrained within his family culture.
Chef Miranda's professional trajectory includes foundational training at San Francisco's acclaimed Fifth Floor (known for its French-American inspiration) and culminated in his role as Food and Beverage Director for Nelson German's (Top Chef Season 18) ventures: Sobre Mesa Afro-Latino Cocktail Lounge and Alamar Dominican Kitchen.
He adheres to a core culinary philosophy: "Strategy will compensate for talent. Talent will never compensate for strategy."
Chef Miranda gained national recognition as an alumnus of the debut season of NBC's "Yes Chef!" hosted by Martha Stewart and José Andrés.
